Hi, I’m Sarah – Building Designer and Managing Director.
I am a qualified Building Designer and have been since 2008 when I graduated from CQUniversity (Rockhampton) with a Bachelor of Building Design. I am a single mum with 2 teenage autistic children. I am so grateful for having a business that I can run, enjoy what I do, and be there when my kids need me.
I absolutely love what I do – and anyone that sees me drafting will see the light that shines from me as I am creating and getting your dreams onto paper for you. I love to ensure spaces flow together for the use of the house and how we live our lives today. A lot has changed over the last 22 years that that I have been drafting (yes, I know I don’t look old enough to have had a career that long). My passion has always been drafting houses and spaces, and bringing it to life with the 3D Models we create to help everyone see what we see in our plans.
I love running my business and I love working with my wonderful team of staff. Working with the ladies is just the best way to spend my week.
I also love working with all our wonderful clients. We have clients with such different ideas, and it is wonderful to see it come to life in the plans that we produce. We love to meet with all our clients and see their love for the plans and their faces light up when they get to see the changes happen in front of them along with the “fly around” of their house. We find this really brings the project into perspective for them.
Hi, I’m Leah – Draftsperson.
I graduated with a Diploma in Interior Design & Decoration through TAFE Qld in 2014. I have been married since 2016 and have 2 wonderful little boys, 1 dog and 5 chickens. I have worked with GBD since July 2022.
My background is Local Government for approx. 6 years, in particular within the Town Planning Sector. I have a strong passion for processes and helping people within the Town Planning space and thoroughly enjoy my current role within the team where I can assist Client’s with processing Planning Applications as well as draft house plans.
I lived in Gatton for approx. 25 years before moving to Ipswich in 2017 with my husband. I previously worked in the private sector for 6 years as a Senior Designer for a private furniture company. I undertook space planning for commercial spaces and oversaw staff within my team. During that time, I also started my family and have two beautiful boys to show for this. Whilst on maternity leave, I sought a change in my career to not only be closer to home and my family, but to also further my skill set. I approached Sarah for a job opportunity in May 2022, and I am very pleased to say that it was the best decision I have made.
I am challenged on a daily basis to learn more things with regards to the Building Design Industry but continue to assist all the Client’s that Sarah has built a wonderful relationship with over the years.
Each project is so different and brings its own set of challenges and I enjoy this immensely. I have a strong passion for all the Queenslanders within the Ipswich area. I enjoy being able to not only draw these houses up and preserve their history but at the same time I am able to assist with the Town Planning Applications where required.

I am the Administration Officer and Personal Assistant to Sarah.
I joined the GBD office team in 2025.
My husband and I have 3 kiddos who like to keep us very busy, and in my spare time I’m a Scout Leader and Tuckshop Lady!
I enjoy optimising work processes to make sure information is easy to find and understand, not just in our own office, but for our clients too. My goal is to ensure that we provide a high-quality customer experience for our clients, to accompany the high-quality drawings provided by our Drafters.
I am the voice you will hear when you call the office, ready to assist with your enquiries to the best of my ability. My roles include providing quotes, booking site visits and office meetings, maintaining our internal project management systems, and keeping contact with clients throughout their design process. Whatever you need, I’m here to help!
Hi, I’m Dylan — Draftsperson.
I am currently in my third year of studying a dual degree in Architectural Design and Business Management at Queensland University of Technology.
Design is something I’ve been passionate about since high school, and it’s the craft I plan to pursue for life. I graduated from St Edmund’s College in 2022, where my interest in design first took shape, alongside my love for football and basketball, two sports that continue to keep me active and focused.
What I enjoy most about design is seeing my ideas come to life, taking a concept from sketch to structure and knowing it can have a real impact on how people live and interact with space.
It’s been such a great opportunity to work for Sarah, as I’m constantly learning more about building design and refining my skills, especially in Revit. Her guidance and the hands-on experience I’m gaining have been invaluable in helping me grow as a designer.
Hi, I’m Amy - Draftsperson
I have been working in the construction industry for close to 20 years, with experience across project management, contracts administration, and residential construction. I hold a Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) and recently completed my Certificate IV in Residential Drafting, which has allowed me to transition into a role that I truly enjoy.
I love being part of the design process and helping bring ideas to life, whether it’s a renovation, extension, or working through retrospective approvals. I really enjoy interpreting plans, problem solving, and making sure everything works both practically and in line with building requirements.
Using Revit, I create detailed drawings and 3D models to help bring designs to life and make it easier for clients and builders to visualise the end result. I enjoy being organised and making sure everything runs smoothly for both the team and our clients.
Outside of work, I am a mum to my daughter, who keeps me very busy. I really value being able to build my career while also being present for her, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that supports that balance.

I’m passionate about creating structure, clarity, and calm behind the scenes so everything runs smoothly. I support Sarah with day-to-day operations and organisation, keeping everything running smoothly so she can focus on what she loves most.
I love working in a fast-paced environment where I can bring order to complexity. My approach is proactive, detail-oriented, and always people-focused.
Originally from The Netherlands, I’ve called Australia home since 2011. Outside of work, I’m a mum to energetic boys who keep life active and fun. We love spending time hiking and being out in nature, which helps me recharge and stay grounded.
